A code path that runs rarely, so its performance has little effect on the system overall.

Example: A 'delete my account' flow — rarely worth heavy optimization.

In practice: Effort is better spent on correctness and readability for cold paths, since shaving milliseconds off something called once a month has no measurable impact.
