Definition of Done

The team's agreed checklist for when a piece of work actually counts as finished — not just coded, but tested, reviewed, deployed, whatever the team decided.

Example: DoD might include: code reviewed, tests passing, deployed to staging, QA signed off.

In practice: Without a shared DoD, 'done' means something different to every person, and that gap shows up as arguments in sprint review.

• often confused with Definition of ReadyReady is the checklist for entering a sprint; Done is the checklist for leaving it.
• depends on Acceptance CriteriaAcceptance criteria define when an individual story is done; the Definition of Done adds team-wide standards on top of that.
